We are currently looking for a Lead Layout Artist to join our talented team here at our Dublin studio. The successful candidate will maintain a project's Layout standards and support the department supervisor by giving reports on the team and project, as well as implementing and rolling out updates. The Lead Layout Artist will mentor, develop and problem-solve the work of other artists in the team.
This is a Fixed-Term, 5-Month contract based in Dublin.
Please note that our studio operates on a hybrid model, with a minimum of two days per week required in the studio.
The successful candidate must have the right to work in Ireland for the duration of the contract.
Key Responsibilities
- Creating allocated props, sets and environments.
- Creating good basic UV layouts for the texture department.
- Working to maintain the brown bag modelling pipeline.
- Set dressing and instancing required as a part of the set modelling task.
- Documenting workflows and procedures.
- Developing Layout workflows and techniques as well as approving and guiding Layout within the department both in-house and for overseas studios
- Working with Directors and Production Design team to develop the cinematic style and look for the project
- Assisting production in time bids
- Resourcing, crafting, and contributing to documents on workflows
- Mentor and training of other team members
Key Requirements
Knowledge
- Proactive knowledge in improving storyboards through the creation of shot-viz
- Ground-breaking knowledge of staging, composition, pacing, and timing in Animation
Experience
- Experience in coaching and mentoring artists.
- Confident in outsourcing management with an emphasis on clear communication and follow-through
Technical Skills
- Able to point out, improve on, and troubleshoot current tools and animation issues
- General knowledge of rigging, modeling, lighting, and FX. Good eye for editing and software knowledge
