Key Responsibilities
Key tasks include, but are not limited to the following:
• On-site stakeholder negotiations including land access
• Distribution overhead line grid design or a detailed understanding of same
• GPS surveying & setting out
• Feasibility reports
• Progress reports
• Compilation of relevant Health & Safety documentation
• Quality assurance checks on constructed works
• Implementation of ISO 9001, ISO14001 & OHSAS 18001 procedures as required.

About the role
We are currently recruiting for an Overhead Line Network Designer for our expanding team working on infrastructure projects in both Ireland and the U.K.

This is a permanent position within the TLI Group Design Department focusing on both design projects for public utilities as well as private developers.

The successful candidate could emerge from one of several different types of background e.g. Grid Construction (overhead or underground), Land Surveying, Project Management, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with a number of years experience in their particular discipline.

Due to the nature of the position, this role is both office & site based. Office duties can be carried out at (i) TLI Group's Head Office in Abbeydorney, Co. Kerry or (ii) TLI Group's regional Office at Harbour Point Business Park, Little Island, Cork

Qualifications and Skills

The Ideal Candidate
Requirements
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are imperative as considerable interaction will take place with landowners & members of the public
  • Appropriate educational qualifications to a high level in a relevant discipline will be an advantage, but relevant industry experience in lieu will carry significant weighting
  • Knowledge of overhead line industry is a distinct advantage
  • Familiarity with ESB Networks design & construction standards is necessary
  • Strong IT skills required. A working knowledge of AutoCAD & Microsoft Excel will be an advantage
  • A self-motivated individual with ability to work alone in a productive & efficient manner
  • Ability to contribute & work as part of a multidisciplinary team is essential
  • Ability to represent TLI Group and our clients in a professional manner
  • A flexible approach to work, especially where necessary to deliver excellent customer service is required & full drivers licence will be required
  • TLI Group operate on a nationwide basis. Therefore travel (in company vehicle) will be a regular requirement, with occasional overnight stays (at company's expense)
