Byrne Wallace Shields LLP is one of Ireland's largest full service law firms. We are a forward thinking law firm and are currently recruiting for an Assistant Librarian to join our firm in the Dublin office.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assists fee earners with legal research and queries
  • Supports with delivery of training programmes
  • Creation and development of library guides and support material
  • General library administration duties, including cataloguing of journals and books and reviewing hard copy and electronic material where appropriate
  • Supports development and review of library processes and procedures, including contributions to library pages of firm's intranet
  • Maintenance and troubleshooting of library systems
  • Reviews, profiles and assists in the uploading of material to library systems
  • Information Security - Support implementation of the Firms Information Security Management and comply with the Firms Information Security Statement
  • Adhere to data classifications and handling rules
  • Report Breach of Policy, Incident or Security Weakness
  • Comply with the ISMS-04 User's Information Security Policy Statements
  • Additional - Staff may be requested to carry out such reasonable tasks as may from time to time occur

Skills, experience and attributes:
  • Post-graduate library qualification essential
  • An information professional with a minimum of 2+ years' experience
  • Previous experience of legal library
  • The ability to undertake legal research unsupervised
  • Demonstrated interest in learning and development and library training, with strong design and delivery skills
  • Strong demonstrated interest and literacy in I.T.
  • Excellent written and communications skills
  • Ability to persuade and influence senior individuals
  • Ability to work to deadlines, manage multiple projects and deliver under pressure
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, corporate environment
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Has an enthusiastic and can-do-attitude. Is motivated to continuous improvement and personal and professional development
