Investec - Where Out of the Ordinary Happens
At Investec, we do things differently. We're a leading international bank and wealth manager built on a culture of curiosity, entrepreneurial spirit and human connection. Ideas are heard, ambition is celebrated, and impact is encouraged. As part of a team that challenges convention and strives for outperformance, you'll help shape bold solutions for clients who expect something more than the ordinary.
At Investec, we look for people with curiosity, judgement and the confidence to challenge constructively. People who combine technical excellence with a commercial mindset, and who can bring clarity to complexity.
We're looking for a Senior Credit Modeller to join our IFRS 9 Credit Modelling team within Credit Risk. This is a high-impact role for an experienced modeller who wants to do more than build models. It's an opportunity to shape how credit risk is understood, governed and communicated across the bank, with direct exposure to senior leadership, Board-level stakeholders and regulators.
This role will suit someone who is equally comfortable getting into the detail of model design and stepping back to explain what the outputs mean for risk, capital and decision-making.
About the team
Our Credit Modelling team is responsible for the development and implementation of credit risk models used for IFRS 9 expected credit loss estimation across the bank. The team manages the full end-to-end model lifecycle, from scoping and methodology design through to governance, implementation and ongoing monitoring within the bank's risk framework.
You'll be part of an established global modelling team spanning Ireland, the UK and Mumbai, and will play a key role in supporting both the Ireland / EU build-out and UK modelling activity. In Ireland, you'll join a small, high-visibility credit team with strong senior sponsorship and real scope to influence how capability is built.
This is not a pure BAU role. It offers a blend of model development, oversight, governance and strategic build work, making it particularly attractive for someone who enjoys shaping functions and building capability in a growing platform.
What you'll be doing
What we're looking for
As part of our collaborative & agile culture, our working week is 4 days in the office and one day remote. We believe that being together enables us to live our values and support our clients and communities in an extraordinary way.
Investec offers a range of wellbeing benefits to make our people feel healthier, balanced and more fulfilled in their lives inside and outside of work. We offer private medical, employee assistance, cycle to work scheme, as well as a discretionary bonus and private pension scheme.
Embedded in our culture is a sense of belonging and inclusion. At Investec we want everyone to find it easy to be themselves, and to feel they belong. It's a responsibility we all share and is integral to our purpose and values as an organisation. We believe that innovation thrives when everyone feels respected, included, and empowered to contribute.
We actively seek out diverse talent and foster an inclusive environment, encouraging applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences. Here, you'll find networks, benefits, and development opportunities designed to support your career journey, wherever it may lead.
If this role excites you but you don't meet every requirement, we'd still love to hear from you. Your unique perspective and experience could be exactly what we are looking for. Get in touch!
At Investec, we're deeply invested in our clients, our colleagues, and our communities. It's more than a mindset; it's how we show up every day.
Be part of something Out of the Ordinary.

What you'll be doing
- Lead the development and oversight of PD, LGD and EAD models for IFRS 9 and, where relevant, IRB purposes, with a strong focus on transparency, explainability and regulatory compliance.
- Manage the end-to-end model lifecycle, from scoping, design and data assessment through to portfolio analysis, implementation and validation support.
- Support modelling activity across Ireland and the UK, with a primary focus on corporate and wholesale portfolios and an evolving product set including leveraged finance, direct lending, fund finance and project finance.
- Act as a key contact for regulators, internal audit, model risk and validation teams, supporting reviews, challenge and governance discussions.
- Produce high-quality model documentation, governance papers and presentations that clearly set out methodology, assumptions, limitations, impacts and use cases.
- Present model outputs, risk insights and key implications to senior management, governance forums and Board committees, translating technical detail into clear business language.
- Work closely with Credit, Finance, Risk and Business teams to ensure models are well understood, appropriately used and aligned with strategic and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee ongoing model monitoring and enhancement, including annual reviews, back-testing, calibration, remediation activity, and mentoring more junior modellers.
What we're looking for
- Degree or Master's in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance or another relevant STEM discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Substantial experience in credit risk modelling within a banking environment, with strong hands-on experience across PD, LGD and EAD model development.
- Deep understanding of IFRS 9 modelling is essential; exposure to IRB models is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and supervisory expectations for credit risk models, including the ability to support regulatory and governance engagement confidently.
- Experience in wholesale or corporate lending portfolios is preferred; exposure to areas such as leveraged finance, direct lending, fund finance or project finance would be advantageous.
- Proven ability to explain model design, assumptions, limitations and outputs in a way that is clear to non-technical stakeholders, including executives and Board-level audiences.
- Experience producing high-quality, regulator-ready documentation and translating modelling output into practical business and risk insight.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with experience in Python and/or R beneficial, and familiarity with SQL, Excel, Git or related tools helpful but not essential.
