We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated, skilled and compassionate nurse who will work as part of the multidisciplinary team in delivering specialist palliative care services to patients and families.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualised evidence-based care plans.
- Demonstrate advanced clinical assessment, decision-making and nursing management skills in the care of patients with complex palliative care needs.
- Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated, holistic and patient-centred care.
- Provide education and support to patients, families and healthcare staff in relation to symptom management, treatment options and end-of-life care.
- Promote best practice through clinical leadership, audit, research and evidence-based practice initiatives.
- Contribute to service development and quality improvement within the palliative care service.
- Participate in the teaching, support and assessment of junior staff and nursing students.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with professional and regulatory standards.
The Successful Candidate Will Possess
- Be registered as a Registered General Nurse on the active register maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Be registered as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner on the Advanced Nurse Practitioner Division of the NMBI Register or be actively working towards registration.
- Demonstrate practice in line with the six domains of competence as defined by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland Advanced Practice (Nursing) Standards and Requirements (NMBI, 2017).
- Have a minimum of 3 years' recent experience in palliative care, preferably in an advanced practice or specialist role.
- Demonstrate advanced clinical knowledge and expertise in the nursing management of patients with complex palliative care needs.
- Possess excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently and make clinical decisions in a dynamic healthcare environment.
- Have a strong commitment to continuous professional development and service improvement.
- Possess intermediate IT skills.
- Experience in education, teaching and mentorship is desirable.
