Junior Software Development Engineer in Test

Job Purpose

As a Junior SDET at CR2, you will work within a Scrum team supporting and elevating the quality of our digital banking solutions.

You will gain hands-on experience working close to our products - understanding requirements, supporting test design, and contributing to both manual and automated testing.

This role is suited to candidates with solid QA fundamentals who are looking to grow their technical and automation skills in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Our Hybrid Working Model requires employees to be on-site three days per week in our Amman / Bangalore office.


Key Responsibilities

Agile Team Collaboration

  • Participate actively in all Agile ceremonies, contributing meaningful input during refinement, planning and standups.
  • Review user stories and acceptance criteria, providing accurate QA effort estimates.
  • Communicate progress, risks, and blockers proactively.
  • Build strong product understanding to ensure testing aligns with business objectives.

Test Design & Execution

  • Create, maintain and run automated tests across Web, Mobile and API.
  • Ensure risk-based and comprehensive coverage of new and existing features.
  • Identify, document, and reports defects with clarity.
  • Work effectively within a continuous delivery environment using Jira and test management tools.


Automation Frameworks:

  • Develop clean, maintainable automated test scripts.
  • Contribute to enhancing automation frameworks for stability, scalability, and efficiency.
  • Participate in code reviews and uphold automation quality standards.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to increase automation coverage and reduce manual effort.


Environment, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

    • Configure and maintain test environments and data as required.
    • Track defects through to resolution and validate fixes thoroughly.
    • Maintain and enhance documentation - "how-to" guides.
    • Identify and propose practical improvements to QA processes and tooling.


    Required Experience, Skills & Competencies

    Technical Capability:

    • Strong Java programming skills with the ability to write maintainable, testable code.
    • Experience with API testing, UI automation, and CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins).
    • Familiarity with tools such as Git, RestAssured, Selenium, TestNG, and Appium.
    • Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.


    Analytical & Detail-Oriented

    • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot effectively.
    • High attention to detail, including identification of edge cases and risk areas.
    • Commitment to delivering accurate, high-quality outcomes.


    Communication & Team Collaboration:

    • Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to articulate risks and findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Comfortable working independently and within cross-functional Agile teams.
    • Open to feedback and motivated by continuous improvement.

    • Interest in exploring AI and new technologies to enhance automation and testing efficiency.
    • Demonstrated drive to develop expertise and expand technical capability.


    Qualifications & Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
    • 2+ years of hands-on experience in Software Quality Assurance.
    • Experience delivering automation solutions for web and/or mobile applications.
    • Understanding of Agile/Scrum and iterative delivery models.
    • Experience working within structured test environments and release cycles.
    • Exposure to regulated industries (banking, fintech, payments, or card processing) is advantageous.
