Applications are invited for two specific Purpose contract Lecturing positions in Electrical & Electronic Engineering at University of Galway, with particular expertise in one or more of the following areas:
The new appointees will be required to make significant contributions to programmes in Electrical, Electronic & Computer Engineering, Energy Systems Engineering, Intelligent Robotics and Medical Electronics. The appointee will be expected to contribute strongly to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, student project supervision, and administration activities in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, the School of Engineering, and the broader College of Science and Engineering. Primary teaching responsibilities may be in the areas of power electronics, analogue and digital electronics, robotics, and medical electronics, though may be in other areas depending on the needs of the school and the expertise of the appointee.
The appointees will be expected to work with colleagues across the relevant academic disciplines and research institutes of the university and contribute to the excellent research capacity in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, which has active clusters in Power Electronics, Medical Electronics, Connected and Autonomous Vehicles, Computational Imaging, Embedded Systems, Visual Media Enhancement and Communications (Research at EEE).

Salary: €64,903 to €103,538 p.a (applicable to new entrants effective from January, 2011)

- A primary degree and PhD in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline;
- Experience in third level teaching/teaching support/student supervision;
- An appropriate portfolio of peer-reviewed journal publications, and the capability to develop a strong research programme in Electrical & Electronic Engineering;
- An ability and commitment to conduct programme administration and management in a public service university environment;
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, and an ability and commitment to develop collaborative relationships with other academic staff in the pursuit of teaching and research objectives in electrical, electronic and computer engineering;
- A strong commitment to working with the Engineering (and closely related) industry, particularly in terms of collaborative research.
