At CoinJar, we've made cryptocurrency useful and accessible to clients for over a decade. Established in Australia in 2013, CoinJar has since built a trusted platform where retail and professional clients benefit from intuitive tools to buy, sell, spend and trade cryptocurrency. Following our successful Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) registration, CoinJar has now launched in Ireland. CoinJar operates through local subsidiaries in Australia, the United Kingdom and Ireland (CoinJar Europe Limited).

The group takes a compliance-first approach when it comes to growing our business into new jurisdictions and adhering to new regulations. This entails building relationships with local stakeholders and obtaining local authorisation wherever it operates or aims to operate. Currently CoinJar is seeking a Markets in Crypto Assets Regulation (MiCAR) licence is and building out its Europe team, based in Dublin.

About The Role

CoinJar is now seeking an experienced and qualified candidate for Chief Executive (PCF-8) to join our Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) in Ireland.

As CEO you will be responsible for the strategic leadership, commercial strategy, operational oversight, and regulatory compliance of the exchange. You will work closely with the Board of Directors, Central Bank of Ireland (CBI), global teams and internal teams to drive the company's growth while ensuring adherence to MiCAR and other applicable financial regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute the company's strategic vision, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and market trends.
• Lead and develop a high-performing executive team, ensuring operational excellence across all business functions.
• Ensure full compliance with MiCAR, DORA, relevant CBI regulations, and other applicable legal frameworks.
• Act as the primary liaison with regulators, including the CBI and ESMA, ensuring transparent communication and adherence to compliance obligations.
• Develop the CoinJar EU Commercial Strategy, including affiliate programs and strategic partnerships, with a view for growing our customer base across 10+ markets
• Be the voice of CoinJar EU within the CoinJar Group, working with Global Management and Boards of Directors to align on Group strategies
• Foster a strong compliance-first risk management and governance culture across the organisation.
• Represent the company externally, engaging with stakeholders, investors, industry bodies, and the media.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law, Finance, Business, or a related field
• Strategic vision, sound decision making and strong commercial ability
• Proven leadership, communication, and people management abilities
• Strong understanding of MiCAR, EU AML Directives, and CBI AML/CTF regulatory requirements
• Able to abide by the CBI standards and fulfil the fitness and probity test of the regulator
• Proven commercial acumen and a strong track record of driving customer acquisition
• Ability to work independently as part of the founding startup team in Ireland, supported by the global CoinJar group
• Ability to engage effectively with regulators, investors, and key stakeholders
